5” Fat Eel 

Small Profile, Big Presence

The 5” Fat Eel is the smallest bait in the Fat lineup, but don’t let the size fool you—big fish still devour it. Its short stubby body creates a more rigid, twitchy action through the water, triggering reaction strikes from predators that might hesitate on larger profiles. It doesn’t have the tail fluttering action the larger sizes have but what it does do is hang in the fish's face and “do nothing” which drives them crazy. It’s the right size and profile for them to investigate especially when you’re dealing with pressured fish in clean water.  Its size represents a mixed bag of forage and thrives in fast-moving conditions. The 5” Fat Eel flat out gets bit.

The 5” Fat Eel does well when worked with twitches, snaps, and short rod movements that take advantage of its erratic action. Fish it tight along the bottom like you would with a jig, occasionally giving it quick pops. Lifting the rod and adding in controlled glides back near the bottom is highly effective. Its compact size makes it easy to fish lighter jig heads for a more natural presentation, while still holding up when stepped up in current or deeper water.

The 5” Fat Eel incorporates the same hook slot channel built into the bait that’s found throughout the entire range of lures we make. The hook slot makes rigging absolutely effortless. No more issues having a bait rigged a little off anymore. It also adds an area where scent can be added to the bait if desired. The hook slot allows the hook to be exposed more when a fish hits making the hookup ratio much better by increasing the hook gap between the bait and hook point. Lastly and most importantly it greatly increases the durability and longevity that the lure bodies last. They will not tear as easy as a lure without the slot.
